Worship Schedule

Gather & Celebrate

  • Official Notice – Special Congregational Meeting: Sunday, September 27, 2026, at ~10:30 am (immediately following the 9:30 am service) in the sanctuary. The purpose is to vote on extending a formal Call to a candidate for Senior Pastor. Per ELCA policy, voting must take place in person by confirmed voting members.

  • Burrito Breakfast: Sunday, October 4, between services in the Mattes Center while supplies last. A free-will offering will be accepted.

  • Adult Reading Group: Wednesday, October 7, 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm. Discussion on Prayer in the Night by Tish Harrison Warren. Contact the church office for details.

  • Family Game Night: Friday, October 9, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm in the Mattes Center. Board and card games for all ages.

  • Faith Webs Kickoff: Sunday, October 11. Faith Webs pairs youth with sponsor families to build intergenerational relationships and support youth faith formation ($300 contribution requested from sponsors). Contact Stephanie at faithwebs@gslacrosse.org.

  • Bunco Night: Friday, October 16, at 6:00 pm in the Mattes Center. Open to ages 18+. Bring a $5 wrapped "Fall" themed gift.

  • Viterbo University Presentation: Thursday, October 22, at 7:00 pm at the Viterbo Fine Arts Center. Carl Wilkens (author of I'm Not Leaving) will present on empathy and his experience as the only American who stayed during the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Free admission.   • Cancer Support Group: Third Tuesday of the month (Next meeting: October 20 at 5:00 pm in the Mattes Center). Offers a safe, confidential space for patients and caregivers.

Women’s Ministries & Marketplace

  • WELCA Meeting: Thursday, October 1, at 6:00 pm in the Quilting Room or via Zoom (contact office for link).

  • Lydia Circle: Tuesday, October 6, at 1:00 pm in the Quilt Room. All women are welcome for coffee, conversation, and desserts.

  • WELCA Marketplace Helpers Needed:

    • Lefse Donors: Sourcing 12+ rounds of homemade lefse from 12 families to be bagged and frozen for the holiday sale.

    • Holiday Treat Bakers: Cookies, krumkake, rosettes, and Christmas specialties needed by noon on Friday, November 13.

Service & Volunteer Opportunities

  • Drivers Needed: Volunteers needed to provide rides to church for members who lack transportation. Sign up in the back of church or via the QR code.

  • LWR Kit Collections: Help gather items for School and Personal Care Kits. Lists are available on the Stewardship table.

  • Financial Stewardship: Support the General Fund or this month’s featured fund, the Food For Schools Project, which helps stock area school food banks.

  • New Member Orientation: Fall 2026 Orientation & Dinner upcoming! Contact Sue in the office (office@gslacrosse.org or 608-788-0450) if you are interested in making Good Shepherd your church home.

Pastoral Care & Prayers

  • In Our Prayers:

    • Sympathies to the family and friends of Orlin Midtlien, who passed away Friday, September 18. Funeral services will be held at Good Shepherd on Thursday, October 1, at 11:00 am (Visitation at 9:00 am).
