Who We Are
All Are Welcome!
At Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, everyone is welcome—no exceptions. Inspired by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, we strive to be a place of love, inclusion, and mutual support. We take seriously the Biblical vision of the Church as the Body of Christ: a community of individuals, each with unique gifts and struggles, gathered together to support and encourage one another through Christ.
Radical Hospitality
We are committed to practicing Radical Hospitality, welcoming all who walk through our doors. We believe the Church is at its best when it reflects God’s love and grace for all people. As Pastor J. L. Mattes, our founding pastor, once said: “This church will not strive to have the community support it, but to have the church support the community.” Our ministries and activities reflect a deep care for our neighbors and a desire to make a meaningful impact in the community and the world around us.
Unity in Diversity
God’s grace is boundless. It makes no space for discrimination of any kind—racial, ethnic, sexual, or otherwise. At Good Shepherd, we celebrate each person’s uniqueness as a divine gift. We don’t expect everyone to agree on everything, but we believe that in both our similarities and differences, we can worship, serve, and grow together.
We are united in Christ and strengthened by the diversity among us. We believe this kind of inclusive community reflects God’s will for the Church and brings us closer to living out His love. As part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, we work to share God’s love through service, advocacy, and a commitment to peace and justice. Our staff is welcoming, approachable, and always happy to answer any questions you may have—about Good Shepherd, about faith, or about life.
