Caring Tree: Bringing Holiday Joy to Those Often Overlooked

The holiday season is a time for joy, reflection, and generosity, and in La Crosse, the Caring Tree has become a cherished tradition that embodies all of these values. Each year, this initiative brings holiday cheer to residents at Benedictine Living and Hillview Nursing Home, spreading warmth and kindness to those who are often overlooked during the festive season.

This year, the Caring Tree features 74 names, and everyone is welcome to take as many as they like. The tree, located in the Welcome Area at the back of the sanctuary, is adorned with cards detailing each resident’s wish. Popular gift items include shampoo, slippers, chocolates, and other simple, thoughtful presents that make the season brighter for these community members.

Generosity doesn’t end with selecting a gift. Please place wrapped items by the tree with the card attached by Thursday, December 12th. Every contribution, no matter the size, creates a meaningful and joyful Christmas for someone who may otherwise feel forgotten.

The Caring Tree is more than a display or a list of names; it is a symbol of community, compassion, and the spirit of giving. By participating, donors not only provide tangible gifts but also offer a reminder that every individual is remembered and valued during this special time of year.

This holiday season, the Caring Tree invites everyone to share in the joy of giving, to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors, and to celebrate the true meaning of the season — generosity, connection, and caring for one another.
