Worship
Sunday, June 28 — Fifth Sunday after Pentecost: Worship takes place at 9:30 AM. Pastor Dione Stepanek will be preaching , and the service includes the Holy Baptism of Journey, Octavia, and David Halverson. Music is led by Randy Lyden (organist/pianist) , Karl Greenfield (cantor) , and Dave Osley (percussionist). Readings include Jeremiah 28:5-9 , Psalm 89:1-4, 15-18 , Romans 6:12-23 , and Matthew 10:40-42. Communion will not be served this Sunday.
Next Sunday, July 5: Worship will begin at 9:30 AM. Pr. Harald Bringsjord will be preaching , and music will be led by Randy Lyden, Karl Greenfield, and Dave Osley. Communion will be served this Sunday. Readings include Zechariah 9:9-12 , Psalm 145:8-14 , Romans 7:15-25a , and Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30.
Summer Worship Schedule: We offer a 9:30 AM Worship Service and Livestream. Communion is celebrated on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month, and all are welcome. Communion kits are available upon request from an usher for in-pew communion.
Gather & Celebrate
Vacation Bible School 2026 (The Wild West): VBS is happening August 2nd–6th for children ages 4 years old through 5th grade. The event runs from 5:45 PM to 7:30 PM each evening, with a free-will offering supper from 5:15 PM–5:45 PM. Registration deadline is Tuesday, June 30th! Synod Night at the Loggers: Join us for a fun filled evening on Sunday, July 12th at Copeland Park. We will be on the Toppers Party Deck: tickets are $29 for adults, $16 for kids ages 4-12, and free for ages 3 and under. Includes classic ballpark food, unlimited soft drinks, and 3 beers per adult over 21. Gates open at 4:00 PM; first pitch is at 5:05 PM. Bunco Night: Our next Bunco evening for adults is scheduled for Friday, July 17th at 6:00 PM in the Mattes Center. Bring a $5 wrapped gift with an "Anything Goes" theme and join us for laughter, games, and great company (open to ages 18 and up).
Church Rummage Sale: Held on July 18 from 9:00 AM–2:00 PM. Come and shop at over 13 families' sales all in one place. Lunch is available, so come hungry, enjoy a delicious meal, and contribute to WELCA all at the same time.
Good Shepherd Adult Reading Group: There will be an organizational meeting on Sunday, August 2nd after church at 10:45 AM in the library. Please join us if you are interested!
Burrito Breakfast: On summer break; will resume on Rally Day, September 13th, and return to its normal schedule of the first Sunday of each month thereafter.
Good Shepherd Game Night: On hiatus for June, July, and August; resumes September 11th. Have a safe and happy summer!
Small Groups & Support
Good Shepherd Men’s Group: Meets Sundays at 6:30 PM in the Mattes Center. Simply show up if you would like to join us or contact the church office for more info.
Good Shepherd Women (WELCA): Our next meeting is Thursday, July 2nd at 6:00 PM, either on Zoom or in person in the Quilting Room. If you are interested in the Zoom link, please call the office at (608) 788-0450.
Cancer Support Group: Offers adult cancer patients and caregivers a safe, confidential space to share feelings and experiences. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:00 PM in the Mattes Center. Our next gathering will be on July 21st.
Lydia Circle: On summer break for June, July, and August; resumes September 1st.
Get Involved & Support
Quilting for LWR: Join us in creating quilts for Lutheran World Relief! We meet on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the quilting room. Come for the whole time or just part of the day. We hope to see you at our next session on Monday, July 10th! Quilt guidelines for sewing at home can be found at gslacrosse.org/quilters.
Volunteers Needed for Sunday Refreshments: Help is needed to bring treats (6-8 dozen cookies, cupcakes, muffins, etc. — homemade or purchased) and/or serve (includes making coffee/lemonade) and/or clean up after the 9:30 AM summer service. Sign-up sheets are in the Welcome Area. Treats can be brought ahead of time and kept labeled in the freezer. For more information or questions, please contact the church office.
2026-2027 Sunday School Registration: Sunday School begins September 13, 2026, and will continue through the middle of May 2027, taking place during the 8:30 AM worship service. Help Feed Area Children-Food For Schools Project: This month's featured fund stocks area school food banks. To contribute, scan the QR code in the bulletin or make checks payable to the church with "Food for Schools Project" in the memo line.
Media Team Members Needed: We need a few people to help with our Sunday services by running the PowerPoint at 8:30 and 10:30, and/or running the cameras at the 8:30 service. Other Announcements
Office Hours & Scrip Cards: Office hours are 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Monday–Friday. Kwik Trip cards are always available for immediate purchase in the church office during these hours , or visit the Scrip card table in the welcome area to support the Youth Group.
Sunday Fellowship: Join us for coffee and fellowship in the welcome area following worship.
Church Library: Take advantage of this valuable resource reorganized by our Church Librarian, Ann Keuper. It is located just past the Birch St. entrance on the left as you head towards the Mattes Center.
Nursery: Children are always welcome in worship, but if a break is needed, a nursery is available down the hall past the church offices.
