Worship

  • Sunday, August 9 (Time after Pentecost): Worship takes place at 9:30 am. Pastor Ralph Kuespert will be preaching. Music will be led by Randy Lyden (organist/pianist), Karl Greenfield (cantor), and Dave Osley (percussionist). Readings include 1 Kings 19:9-18, Psalm 85:8-13, Romans 10:5-15, and Matthew 14:22-33. Communion will not be served this Sunday.

  • Next Sunday — August 16: Worship begins at 9:30 am with Communion served. Pastor Harald Bringsjord will be preaching. Music will be led by Randy Lyden, Karl Greenfield, and Dave Osley. Readings include Isaiah 56:1, 6-8, Psalm 67, Romans 11:1-2a, 29-32, and Matthew 15:21-28.

  • Summer Worship Schedule: Good Shepherd offers a 9:30 am Worship Service and Livestream. Communion is celebrated on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month. All are welcome, and communion kits are available upon request from an usher for in-pew communion.

Gather & Celebrate

  • Adult Reading Group: The first book selection is "Waking Up White" by Debby Irving. Please read the book before the first meeting on Wednesday, September 2nd, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. The group will meet monthly. Used copies are available through Andrea B, Pearl Street Books (12 gently used copies for $10 each), for free through the La Crosse Public Library, at most bookstores, and online.

  • Bunco Night: Join the fun on Friday, August 21st at 6:00 pm in the Mattes Center. Bring a $5 wrapped gift with an "Anything Goes" theme. This event is open to ages 18 and up.

Small Groups & Support

  • Scouts Troop 22: Meets Sundays at 4:30 pm.

  • Good Shepherd Men’s Group: Meets Sundays at 6:30 pm in the Mattes Center.

  • Good Shepherd Women (WELCA): The next meeting is on Thursday, September 3rd at 6:00 pm. Join in person in the Quilting Room or via Zoom. Call the office at (608) 788-0450 for the Zoom link.

  • Cancer Support Group: This group offers adult cancer patients and their caregivers a safe, confidential space to share feelings and experiences. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:00 pm in the Mattes Center. The next gathering will be on August 18th.

Get Involved & Support

  • Quilting for LWR: Help create quilts for Lutheran World Relief on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in the quilting room. The next meeting is Monday, August 10th. At-home quilt guidelines are available at gslacrosse.org/quilters.

  • LWR School Kits and Personal Care Kits: Priority needs for School Kits include 70-count spiral notebooks, black or blue ballpoint pens, rulers (cm on one side), blunt scissors, 16 or 24-count crayons, pencil sharpeners, unsharpened No. 2 pencils, and 2.5-inch pink erasers. Priority items for Personal Care Kits include darker bath towels, 4 oz soap bars, toothbrushes, and large nail clippers. Lists are available on the Stewardship table. Monetary donations are also appreciated, and the church can do the shopping. Questions can be directed to Linda Schoen.

  • Food For Schools Project & General Fund: Scan the QR codes in the bulletin to donate. The General Fund covers operating expenses and church activities, while the Food For Schools Project helps stock area school food banks.

  • New Online Giving Options: Stock and Crypto giving is now available for everyone to use through Vanco Online Giving on the church website (gslacrosse.org).

  • Media Team Members Needed: Volunteers are needed to help with Sunday services by running the PowerPoint and/or the cameras. No experience is needed. Please contact Rick at Rick@gslacrosse.org if you are interested.

  • Support Youth Group (Scrip Cards): Visit the Scrip card table in the welcome area, download an order form from the website, or stop by the church office. Kwik Trip cards are always available for immediate purchase in the church office, Monday–Friday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

  • Envelope Offering Comparison: To meet annual budgeted expenses, Envelope Offerings need to average $29,167 per month. July 2026 offerings were $19,041.68, which is a -10.4% change compared to July 2025's $21,256.58. The YTD 2026 total is $154,670.26, a -29.4% change versus the YTD 2025 total of $190,902.13.
