Worship

  • Sunday, August 2 (Tenth Sunday after Pentecost): Worship takes place at 9:30 am with Communion served. Pr. Harald Bringsjord will be preaching, with music led by Randy Lyden (organist/pianist), Karl Greenfield (cantor), and Dave Osley (percussionist). Readings include Isaiah 55:1-5, Psalm 145:8-9, 14-21, Romans 9:1-5, and Matthew 14:13-21.

  • Next Sunday — August 9: Worship begins at 9:30 am. Pastor Ralph Kuespert will be preaching, with music led by Randy Lyden, Karl Greenfield, and Dave Osley. Readings include 1 Kings 19:9-18, Psalm 85:8-13, Romans 10:5-15, and Matthew 14:22-33. Communion will not be served this Sunday.

  • Summer Worship Schedule: Offers a 9:30 am Worship Service and Livestream. Communion is celebrated on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month, and all are welcome. Communion kits are available upon request from an usher for in-pew communion.

Gather & Celebrate

  • Adult Reading Group: Organizational meeting on Sunday, August 2nd after church (approx. 10:45 am) in the library. Please join if you are interested!

  • Vacation Bible School 2026 (The Wild West): August 2nd–6th for children ages 4 through 5th grade. Runs 5:45 pm – 7:30 pm each evening with a free-will offering supper from 5:15 pm – 5:45 pm. Register at gslacrosse.org/vbs-2026 or contact Brea at breanna@gslacrosse.org.

  • National Night Out: Join us Tuesday, August 4th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Good Shepherd to connect with neighbors and community safety officers. Enjoy hot dogs, chips, beverages, kids' games, music by Randy Erickson’s Sing-Along Sideshow, and unique cars. Bring food to share and your own plate/utensils if possible to reduce plastic waste. Donations needed for Hintgen students: underwear, socks, and new/gently used children's shoes.

  • Bunco Night: Friday, August 21st at 6:00 pm in the Mattes Center. Bring a $5 wrapped gift ("Anything Goes" theme). Open to ages 18 and up.

Small Groups & Support

  • Scouts Troop 22: Meets Sundays at 4:30 pm.

  • Good Shepherd Men’s Group: Meets Sundays at 6:30 pm in the Mattes Center.

  • Good Shepherd Women (WELCA): Next meeting on Thursday, August 6th at 6:00 pm in person (Quilting Room) or via Zoom. Call the office at (608) 788-0450 for the Zoom link.

  • Cancer Support Group: Offers adult cancer patients and caregivers a safe space to share experiences. Meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:00 pm in the Mattes Center. Next meeting: August 18th.

Get Involved & Support

  • Quilting for LWR: Creating quilts for Lutheran World Relief on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in the quilting room. Next meeting: Monday, August 10th. At-home quilt guidelines are available at gslacrosse.org/quilters.

  • LWR School Kits and Personal Care Kits: Priority needs for School Kits: spiral notebooks (70 count), ballpoint pens (black/blue), rulers (cm side), blunt scissors, crayons (16/24 count), pencil sharpeners, unsharpened No. 2 pencils, and 2.5-inch pink erasers. Priority for Personal Care Kits: darker bath towels, 4 oz soap bars, toothbrushes, and large nail clippers. Check the Stewardship table for lists; monetary donations are also accepted. Questions?   • Food For Schools Project & General Fund: Scan the QR codes in the bulletin to donate to either the Food For Schools Project (stocking school food banks) or the General Fund (operating expenses).

Funerals & Prayers

  • Memorial Service: Sympathies to the family and friends of Les Hinze Jr., who passed away July 23rd. Service will be held at Coulee Region Cremation Group on October 3rd at 11:00 am.
