Welcome to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church! Here’s a roundup of all the latest news, events, and opportunities to connect and serve:
Worship
Summer Sunday Worship — We continue with one worship service at 9:30am (in person and livestreamed) through August 31.
This Sunday (August 17) — We worship on the Tenth Sunday after Pentecost. Readings include Jeremiah 23:23–29, Psalm 82, Hebrews 11:29–12:2, and Luke 12:49–56. Communion will be served.
Next Sunday (August 24) — We worship with readings from Isaiah 58:9b–14, Psalm 103:1–8, Hebrews 12:18–29, and Luke 13:10–17. Communion will not be served.
Gather & Celebrate
Good Shepherd Men’s Group — Meets on Sundays at 6:30pm.
Bunco Night — The next Bunco evening is Friday, September 19 at 6:00pm in the Mattes Center. Bring a $5 wrapped gift with a "Fall" theme and join for games and company. This event is for ages 18 and up.
Holiday Marketplace — Join us for the Holiday Marketplace Sale on November 15, from 9:00am to 2:00pm. There will be 23 vendors and a pulled pork sandwich lunch available for $7. Norwegian lefse will also be on sale.
Small Groups and Support
Quilting for Lutheran World Relief (LWR) — The group meets on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month from 9:00am to 3:00pm in the quilting room. The next meeting is Monday, August 25.
Cancer Support Group — For adult cancer patients and their caregivers, meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:00pm in the Mattes Center. There is no meeting in August; the next gathering is September 16.
Grief Support Group — The group meets twice a month, on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at 3:00pm. The next meeting is September 11.
Family Game Night Fun — The next game night is Friday, September 12, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm in the Mattes Center.
Get Involved and Support
Food For Schools Project — This month's featured fund is the Food For Schools Project, which helps stock area school food banks. You can donate by scanning the QR code in the bulletin.
Lutheran World Relief (LWR) Kits — Items are being collected for School and Personal Care Kits. Top needs for School Kits include 70-count notebooks, blue/black pens, rulers with centimeters, blunt scissors, crayons, sharpeners, unsharpened pencils, and pink erasers. For Personal Care Kits, top needs are dark towels, 4 oz soap bars, toothbrushes, and nail clippers.
Serve in Worship — You can sign up online to serve as a reader or usher at gslacrosse.org/participate.
Stay Connected
Sunday Fellowship — Join us for coffee and fellowship in the welcome area following worship.
Membership — A new membership orientation is held twice a year.
Confirmation Registration — Youth going into 6th–8th grade can register for Confirmation at gslacrosse.org/confirmation. There will be a parent/guide session on September 3 at 6:30pm and the first day of Confirmation is Wednesday, September 10.
Sunday School Registration + Rally Sunday — Kids in Pre-K through 5th grade can register for Sunday School at gslacrosse.org/sunday-school. Rally Sunday is September 7, with a burrito breakfast and activities. Worship times will return to 8:30am and 10:30am on this day
