Synod Assembly Worship Moves Indoors Due to Rain; Spirit Still Shines Bright at Our Savior’s
LA CROSSE — The annual Synod Assembly Worship service was held this past Sunday, not in Riverside Park as originally planned, but at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in La Crosse due to rain.
Despite the last-minute change of venue, the service remained a powerful and moving gathering. Worshippers filled the sanctuary at 10 a.m. to celebrate Pentecost and reflect on the Spirit’s ability to move and unite people across all circumstances.
Originally slated to take place under the open skies of Riverside Park, the service was meant to symbolize the freedom and movement of the Spirit — a fitting backdrop for Pentecost Sunday. But when rain fell Sunday morning, the congregation made a quick and graceful shift indoors, proving that the Spirit is not bound by place.
As songs were raised, prayers were offered, and bread was broken in the sanctuary of Our Savior’s, the message remained clear: the Church is alive and well, regardless of the setting. The service challenged those in attendance to carry the Spirit’s fire into their daily lives — loving boldly, serving joyfully, and witnessing faithfully in their communities.
The change in location did not dampen the communal spirit; instead, it was a powerful testimony to adaptability, unity, and a shared mission.
