Faith Webs: Building Community & Supporting Our Youth

Faith Webs is designed to both build community and raise funds to support our youth in attending summer faith formation activities. Studies show that children who grow into adults with an active faith life are most likely to have six or more adults of active faith supporting them as they grow up.

Every child who wishes to participate in an overnight faith-based summer camp, a middle school or high school mission trip, or attend family camp with the adults in their life is encouraged to sign up for a Faith Web. Once they are signed up, we connect them with other adult supporters in the congregation to form their “web.” These webs then spend the year getting to know each other and building meaningful relationships.

To strengthen these connections, we will host several Faith Web group events throughout the year. In addition, participants are encouraged to spend time together outside of group activities. Examples might include attending youth sporting or music/theatre events, going out for pizza or a movie, or even being pen pals. The opportunities are endless—and God shows up in powerful ways when people choose to connect and support one another.

The child’s family is asked to contribute $300 toward camp, while the remaining costs will be covered through fundraising and the support of Faith Web partners. If a child chooses to go on a mission trip instead, fundraising and Faith Web partners will also help cover those costs. While financial support is important, the primary goal of Faith Webs is to build lasting connections within our faith community.

If you are interested in participating—either as a youth or as a Faith Web supporting partner—please connect with a member of the Faith Web Team in person or email us at faithwebs@gslacrosse.org.
