Worship

  • Sunday, January 4 — Second Sunday of Christmas — Join us this Sunday as we celebrate the Second Sunday of Christmas with readings from Jeremiah 31:7–14, Psalm 147:12–20, Ephesians 1:3–14, and John 1:1–18. Pastor Harald Bringsjord will preach, with music led by Randy Lyden, Karl Greenfield, and Dave Osley. Communion will be served at both services. The 8:30 am service will be livestreamed. Sunday School will meet at 8:30 am, and a Burrito Breakfast will be served between services in the Mattes Center.

  • Sunday, January 11 — First Sunday after Epiphany | Baptism of Our Lord — Next Sunday we celebrate the Baptism of Our Lord with readings from Isaiah 42:1–9, Psalm 29, Acts 10:34–43, and Matthew 3:13–17. Bishop Malpica will preach, and music will be provided by Randy Lyden, Karl Greenfield, and Dave Osley. Communion will not be served. Worship will be held at 8:30 and 10:30 am, with Sunday School at 8:30 am.

Gather & Celebrate

  • Family Game Night — Friday, January 9, 6:00–9:00 pm, Mattes Center — All ages are invited to enjoy an evening of board games, card games, and fellowship.

  • Bunco Night — Friday, January 16, 6:00 pm, Mattes Center — Adults 18+ are invited to bring a $5 wrapped gift with a winter theme for a fun night of games, laughter, and community.

  • Burrito Breakfast — Sunday, January 4, between services, Mattes Center — Join us for burritos with all the fixings between worship services. A free-will offering will be accepted while supplies last.

Small Groups & Support

  • Lydia Circle — Tuesday, January 6, 1:00 pm, Quilt Room — All women are invited for coffee, desserts, and friendly conversation.

  • Good Shepherd Women (WELCA) — Thursday, January 8, 6:00 pm, Quilting Room or via Zoom — Join in person or contact the church office for the Zoom link. Officer elections will be held at the February 5 meeting.

  • Grief Support Group — Thursday, January 8, 3:00 pm — A caring, confidential space to share, listen, and find comfort.

  • Cancer Support Group — Tuesday, January 20, 5:00 pm, Mattes Center — A supportive group for adult cancer patients and caregivers.

  • Good Shepherd Men’s Group — Sundays, 6:30 pm, Mattes Center — Open to all men for conversation, reflection, and fellowship.

Get Involved & Support

  • Food for Schools Project — Support area school food banks with a donation by check (memo: “Food for Schools Project”) or online. Your generosity helps feed local children in need.

  • Support the Youth Group — Purchase Scrip gift cards in the Welcome Area or church office (Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–1:00 pm). Kwik Trip cards are always available.

  • 2026 Offering Envelopes — Available in the Welcome Area. Contact the church office if you would like envelopes but have not yet received them.

  • Quilting for Lutheran World Relief — Monday, January 12, 9:00 am–3:00 pm, Quilting Room — Join us on the second and fourth Mondays of the month to help create quilts for Lutheran World Relief.

  • Reading & Ushering Sign-Up — Sign up online at gslacrosse.org/participate or in the Welcome Area to serve in worship.

Other Announcements

  • Hospital Visits — Members wishing a pastoral visit during hospitalization should contact the church office directly, as hospitals cannot release patient information without a name.

  • Prayer — We extend our sympathies to the family and friends of John Gilbertson (December 22) and Lorraine Everson (December 30). Services for Lorraine Everson will be held at Good Shepherd on January 8 at 11:00 am. Blessed be their memories.
